5th edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women

Corin Sworn

The winner of the 5th edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery is Corin Sworn, Glasgow based film and installation artist. Her winning proposal draws inspiration from the Commedia dell'Arte, the masked, improvised theatrical performances touring Italy in the 16th Century. Sworn has been awarded a 6 months bespoke residency in Italy.

Tokyo, Japan November 5th, 2013 - Following the events held in Moscow for the Group’s 60th anniversary, and the multimedia presentation last year in Hong Kong, Max Mara’s series of global events shifts even further East with Marvelous Max Mara Tokyo 2013, a celebration of the Group’s first 25 years in Japan. Marvelous Max Mara Tokyo 2013” has also been conceived to celebrate the 25th anniversary, and will feature the re-opening of the historic 450 m2 flagship store in Ginza, the biggest one in Japan, renovated 10 years after its original inauguration. The interiors and architecture of the store have been redesigned with a new concept. A particular focus, for this boutique, on the design impact of the exterior.

Variations on an Icon

For the opening of the new flagship store at K11 in Shanghai Max Mara is pleased to present the project Variations on an Icon, by three young Chinese artists: Aaajiao, Chen Wei, Hu Yun. It is a free interpretation of 101801, Max Mara’s icon coat designed by Anne Marie Beretta in 1981 and a cult object worldwide. The exhibition will be opened from 10 Sept. to 30 Sept. 2013 during the opening hours of the store, from 10am to 10pm.25th August 2012

During the Milan Design Week, Here Is The Cube fall-winter 2013, the icon of ‘S Max Mara, will be in the first-ever preview at the Max Mara store in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. The Cube: an innovative design concept based on an integrated system of outerwear and accessories. Now on view also at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

4th edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women

Laure Prouvost, winner of Max Mara Art Prize for Women, presents the two-part installation Farfromwords: car mirrors eat raspberries when swimming through the sun, to swallow sweet smells at the Whitechapel Gallery from 20 March – 7 April 2013. The new commission is the culmination of the fourth edition of the prize.

Actress Hailee Steinfeld will be the next recipient of the Women In Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award® in recognition of her outstanding acting achievement and embodiment of style and grace. She will be honored at the 2013 Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards® on June 12th at LA. Steinfeld traveled to Milan, Italy to meet the Maramotti family and attended the Fall Winter 2013 Max Mara Fashion Show on February 21st.

Now through May 8, 2013, the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology (MFIT) in New York will host the ‘Fashion and Technology’ exhibition, which takes a close look at the relationship between glamour and innovation. The presence of ‘S Max Mara the Cube within the ‘Fashion and Technology’ exhibition is a distinguished acknowledgement which authenticates and confirms the originality and innovation of the project.
